Peter Pelham arrives in Boston from England.

An engraver and the first portrait painter in Boston, he soon establishes the first art school, which is located near the Town Dock. Pelham goes on to organize musical and social events beginning in 1731.* He marries the widow of Richard Copley in 1748* and dies a few years later.
